Liberty or freelance workit implies interaction with the horse without the use of ropes and halters. As far as equipment is concerned, we usually use a long or short bit, not to dominate, but to expand its energy  influence on the horse.  

In other words, when we work freely with the horse, we rely mostly on body language,  using our own energy and intention  to communicate with the horse.

This way of working is the most natural for horses and allows them a sense of freedom and expression.
